How My Shopaholic Tendencies Landed Me in the Shopee Birthday Bash and its Video Collaboration

I have a confession to make. I never thought I’d like this. I was just trying it for a little bit, you know, testing it for a little while. But then, little whiles became days, weeks, months, years – and there was nothing I could do to stop.

Forgive me please, but I am a shopping addict.

IMG_5684

I remember visiting the nearby mall in our university back in college every after school. I used to sneak my shopping goodies inside my bedroom window first, before finally going inside the house’s main door.

I was afraid my Mom will scold me again. But I was terminal. :/ Haha

Too ill to heal. 😀

IMG_20170621_213325

You see, looking back I never really regret shopping much. Wanting nicer things actually pushed me to go pursue a business, so I can afford the things I want.

Little did I know, these “shopaholic tendencies” would pave the way for some opportunities, aside from Versaheel.

Last night, I went to the Shopee’s Birthday Bash!

It was wonderful, and even though it took me forever to arrive because damn, the traffic was treacherous; I was still able to come in one piece.

Ibiza Beach Club was stupendous! I have seen one that’s similar in Cebu, and it is such a genius to have something like that here in Manila!

The place was in an all-white-theme, and that spells the extra class of the venue! We were situated in arc sofas and the little platforms served as pathways. The water in the little pools on the sides made everything more magical!

IMG_20170621_214448

I am really grateful for being part of this year’s Shopee’s anniversary party. Not only did I meet new people, I was also given the chance to participate in its video collaboration with Manila Mash.

We had the shoot in Café Libertad in Amorsolo, Makati. You’ve got to visit them! They have the most flavorful sandwiches in Makati, I tell you!

In here we talked about how convenient shopping became because of this app. I never have to go out just to canvass and buy something. Looking for a product became a lot easier through Shoppee!

You can watch the full video here, as produced by Manila Mash in collaboration with Shoppee!

Screenshot_20170623_023337

It also helps me market Versaheel more. I can say that Shopee’s features come in real handy for entrepreneurs like me, because it allows us to have a medium to sell our products and get searched in the most suitable and convincing way!

Plus, the Shopee Guarantee makes it more genuine and safer, because the app becomes your gateway in buying online. And a seller will only collect the payment, once you, the buyer receives the product.

Trust issues are even addressed directly!

7 Tips on How to Survive Your First Photoshoot

About a week ago, I had my first legit photoshoot for my brand, Versaheel. It felt surreal really! I didn’t know what I was doing half the time, considering I really don’t have any background on posing in a studio, or a strong experience in striking poses with a lot of people staring at you.

Via Galang shoes 1

“Who is this girl? “Why is her hair orange?”

Via Galang Shoe Designer 1Via Galang Shoe Designer 2

But I survived it! I mean them! I had a 2-day photoshoot, and they were magnificent!

I know, I started selling shoes way back 2009, with only a 2-megapixel camera phone and my too-tired set of feet from long hours of standing in nursing duties, I brave the traffic and sometimes rainy weather to go to the Marikina Market, and take photos of newly delivered shoes!

Via Galang 5

It felt like a real treat for me! I remember dreaming for hours to pass by until dismissal so I can quickly pack my bags and head home, and oh, make a not-so-quick stop from my kind suppliers! 😀

There were also times when I console myself by cheating a self-promised 30-minute Multiply (the social media giant that time, Facebook wasn’t popular yet) posting and selling just so my wits will wake up amidst studying for the finals. The 30 minutes usually turn to 3 hours. 😀

Via Galang 3

Fast forward to now, I have a studio, an outdoor venue, photographers, makeup artist, and a publicist! I could have never imagined these things when I was only 20 years old!

So if you’re a teenager, a 20-ish person, or someone who has a lot of dreams, never let those go! You’ll never know the world is actually watching you, and someday it will be ready to launch you.

I’m not a pro on this, but just in case this may come in handy, I’ll tell you things I learned on how to survive your first photoshoot.

Via Galang 8

  1. Sleep early and arrive early.

This helps so much to ease away the appearance of the dark circles under your eyes. It’s also good to arrive early so that you can have a lot of time for your hair and makeup, consequently more time for the photoshoot itself!

IMG_20170520_113108

IMG_20170520_123404

More time could also mean more photos! It also buys you time for changing and retouch!

Via Galang

  1. Hydrate yourself.

This is quite a problem, especially that I don’t fair well with the water department. If you’re not hydrated enough, your lips will be chappy! This doesn’t look nice, especially on headshots and closeups!

Versaheel in Marikina

  1. Know your angles.

I have quite a pudgy face, and I know my right cheek is extra plumpy than the other side. So I could say right sideways is my best angle! Practice in a mirror so that you would know!

Hey, don’t stress too much! No one is that perfect! Every picture-perfect model also knows how to look best on camera, and we should too!

Via Galang shoes

  1. Have a concept in mind.

What are you trying to highlight? Is it your hair, your makeup, your outfit, your shoes? Know the goal of this shoot so you could also prepare!

Most high-end shoots will probably take care of everything – the clothes, shoes, jewelry and other accessories. But while you have a say on how you will look, it’s better to be vigilant on the things you bring on the set.

Versaheel in Marikina

For example, I am promoting my shoes, so I have to downplay my dress, by sticking to plains and basic colors, and let my shoes shine! You don’t want to distract your audience by looking at the other things in the photo you are not even meant to advertise!

  1. Be nice to everybody.

I think this is such an obvious thing, but we’d like to keep a happy and nice environment, no matter how pressured you are. I mean if you need help with getting some BTS photos or some extra hand to zip your dress, and the people around are not compelled to even do these for you; you’ll get extra mileage and points by being nice and hopefully (and naturally) these people can extend a hand to do your little requests.

Via Galang 4

  1. Close your eyes. Open them. Smile/Radiate the aura.

There are times when you are so tired already, your smile turns into a fake smile, worst a frown. The easy refresh button technique that I learned is to relax your mouth, close your eyes, and then pop! You will look natural again!

Via Galang

As what Tyra Banks also said, “SMIZE!” Smile with your eyes!

And it also helps to uplift your spirits, even if it has to be on your own! I mean you’re the model, you should do your job! 😀

Via Galang h

  1. Have fun.

And the best advice is to have fun, and just enjoy it!

It’s not everyday you don’t have to ask someone to take a photo of you and hopefully, they get the right frame and angle. I mean you’re dealing with professional photographers here, and it’s such a wonder to not instruct them on how you’d like the photo to turn out.

Plus, your next Instagram photo will not be a selfie! Yay!

Versaheel in Marikina

Via Galang 4

I hope you learned a thing or two on this! I did too! And I am extremely grateful for all the people who have helped me make this photoshoot into a reality! These photos were released in an article about my story on how I started as a shoe designer. You can read that in The Story of a Dreamer : Via Galang.

Hi I’m Via – a Mermaid, a Weasley, and Ginger Spice

I have always loved “The Little Mermaid”. I remembered watching it in VHS when I was little, and I always thought her colors are so vibrant compared to the other Disney Princesses. The animators must have splurged too many colors on her than any other princess during her time.
Ariel

I mean she had red hair, purple bra, and a green fishtail. The colors are popping and shouting everywhere, but she still looks exceptionally gorgeous and put-together.

I guess, I just get fascinated with unusual things and combinations, because they practically stand out above everything else,(even though she doesn’t have legs yet in the beginning). Haha! Pun intended!

IMG_20170421_144350IMG_20170421_144505

So one Friday morning, the day before my first freelance speaking engagement, I tried to have my hair dyed with the hue I am so crazy about –ROSE GOLD!

I know! Haha You’ve seen my hair in the photos and in personal maybe, but it’s nothing like the original plan, is it? Well the story is pretty basic. Nothing too special.

I went to Gem’s Salon because apparently they offer the most affordable rate I’ve seen in social media, and they have great reviews as well. So I took a chance!

IMG_20170421_145804

I was charged P3,000 for bleaching and coloring, plus keratin treatment. So it’s a good deal already! Normally, these kind of services will give you a total of P8,000 , so it’s already a steal!

IMG_20170421_164832

My hair was bleached, and it was a bit painful, but oh well, “All for beauty!”.

IMG_20170421_170820IMG_20170421_174726IMG_20170421_174928

Then I had my hair coloring done. I told my hair colorist Ms Alma, that I wanted a rosegold shade. I even showed her a photo, but I’m not sure what happened, but the product came out differently.

And I am shocked to say, that I am not even a tiny bit appalled on how my hair turned-out. Actually, I even thought why I never took the courage to be bold and sport tangerine/bright orange/ginger hair before! They camouflage in different colors depending on the lighting by the way, so that’s a big plus!

I COULD LITERALLY PASS FOR A WEASLEY SIBLING!

Or Ginger Spice! 😀 Haha

My friends loved it; my dad said I looked like my fancy Lola, whom I call Mommy 2, and my fiancé John thinks I look like an anime character (in a good way) of course.

So I guess, it’s not too bad after all. I just have some difficulty choosing clothes. I mean, it’s also a struggle because I lack light-colored tops and dresses. I’m basically relearning how to dress up with such a loud color for a hair, but oh well, I’m enjoying it.

This goes to show that there may be times when you may not achieve the plan you have set for yourself, when life happens, you just have to be able to move on, be grateful with what you have (like I still got hair hehe) and in return, maybe create more or something much better out of it.

IMG_20170421_185255IMG_20170421_185354IMG_20170421_185226

Life is too short to just have one hair color!

IMG_20170422_084007

What do you think merfriends? Will you ever try to dye your hair ginger? You should! Hehe 😀 Let me know your thoughts! 😀

How to Achieve a Killer Smile with GumAlive

Just like most teen girls, I also had my fair share of insecurities. You see, I always wanted to have a nice smile, but since I wasn’t gifted with a good set of teeth, I just have to resolve to other means.

Either I smile without exposing my pearly whites, which is a bit difficult considering how protruding my upper set was; smile a bit while consciously forcing my lower lip forward to create an illusion that my upper set wasn’t too accelerative, or the safest, but also the saddest, is to not smile at all. Period.

Either way, these methods only remind me that I can only do so much; that is why I envisioned myself to self-invest one day.

Via Galang Smile 2Via Galang Smile

Investing in ourselves is always a good thing, especially if the improvement directs you to your goal, the common good, and it enhances your quality of life. So I got braces! Haha

My parents paid for my first one back in college in 2007, but since I am not quite satisfied with the results, I switched dentists. So tadaa, after 10 years, I still look like my college self, only with ginger hair! Haha 😀

Now that I am on the road to get my dream smile, there is only one thing left! How do I maintain it and how do I keep my dental health in place?

So I guess we have to start with what we’re always used to – toothpaste and mouthwashes.

Can I just say I have never been more thankful for blogging than I am today? I got invited to the Bloggers’ Meeting of GumAlive Toothpaste, the first mouth spa in the world. And I was pretty psyched about this product.

I didn’t blog about it after the event because I want to at least try it out first, and let my friends use it, so that I can document their review as well.

So, here’s what you have to know.

IMG_20170329_170034

GumAlive is a Thai product that is made with organic ingredients, so you’re sure that everything’s healthy and good even for the most sensitive teeth.

In line with this, GumAlive brings oral health to a new peak by spearheading the concept “The Way Nature Made It”, providing true wellness by natural elements, as it doesn’t contain parabens, SLS and Flouride.

It is also the first mouthspa toothpaste with the integration of “Bodhical” Extract, a substance derived from the widely known sacred fig tree.

There are three variants, and so far my favourite is the GumAlive Fresh Breath.

IMG_20170329_172038

GumAlive Fresh Breath

Commonly, we brush our teeth in the evening, only to worry for a bad breath in the morning – not exactly a great start to greet your honey or family. But the most amazing part here is, just when you thought that all toothpastes are made equally the same, they’re actually not.

GumAlive Fresh breaks that myth! Woah! You should try it!

Using this cutting-edge mouth care isn’t like ordinary tooth brushing. The first time I used it, I noticed that it doesn’t bubble that much at the beginning because it neutralizes your mouth’s PH primarily. Our mouth is naturally acidic, same as the toothpaste we generally use.

Consequently, GumAlive is alkaline, which explains the absence of the bubbles. And this mouthspa just leaves your entire buccal cavity minty and fresh.

The two other variants are Natural Whitening and Special Gum Care.

GumAlive Natural Whitening

The good thing about this brand is that they have a specific product on targeted needs. Like Special Gum Care. I believe this is so helpful for those who are suffering from tooth decay and toothaches. It alleviates pain and supports overall dental health.
One keynote I highly value is that I learned in the launch that women who suffer toothaches normally have reproductive issues. So if you’re having sudden concerns with your teeth, better have yourself checked by a doctor. There may be an underlying cause to that.

IMG_20170329_172143

I highly recommend this product, but you have to experience it to believe it.

GumAlive retails for P395 a tube, and is available at Cash & Carry, UniMart, Fisher Mall, Makati Supermart in Alabang, and selected Mercury Drug stores.

Follow GumAlive Philippines in Facebook and in their website.

IMG_20170426_203107-01[1]

My fiancé and our families are using it now. So maybe it’s about time to change your toothpaste brand, don’t you think?

7 Things Why CAVA is Your Dream Makeup School

If there’s anything I’m not good at, considering how vain I am, oh, let me rephrase that – I mean how meticulous and valuable a physical image is to me, it’s probably putting on makeup.

I mean, I know the basics, but I believe my skills need more didactics. Good thing CAVA came into my life.

CAVA or the Centre for Aesthetics and Visual Arts is a makeup school, makeup events place, a makeup junkie’s haven all rolled into one! I was fortunate to be invited in their launch and got a lot of makeup takeaways after! So scroll down my dear merfriends to know more about this gem.

IMG_20170407_103946-01

  1. It’s the baby of HG Studio

HG Studio is a makeup and photography studio spearheaded by Ms. Hazel Gonzales, an International Airbrush Specialist, Professional Bridal Makeup Artist, Beauty Consultant, and Entrepreneur.

IMG_20170407_104508-01IMG_20170407_104627-01

Her passion and talent allowed her to travel the globe and perfect her craft. She has represented the esteemed cosmetic brand, Estee Lauder, by being its head makeup artist, and has been trained under international makeup gurus. No wonder, she is one of the most sought-after makeup consultants in the country.

Her creative works have also graced media covers and events, from magazines, billboards, commercials, tv shows, to photo shoots and fashion shows.

IMG_20170407_105813-01

I was thrilled to know that HG Studio’s main love is working their magic in debuts and weddings. Considering I’m getting married in two years, it felt like destiny meeting them.

With all the things I wrote here, it was a matter of time (and maybe because of an insistent public demand) that HG Studio shares its creative prowess to those who would like to learn the art of makeup, hence the launch of CAVA.

  1. Wonderful Vision

Ms. Hazel shared about her formative years, wherein it was a bit challenging to enroll in Makeup Studies. She related that there was only one makeup school back then, and the tuition fees are a bit pricey, so she really had to work very hard to be able to afford her dream.

IMG_20170407_123405

She even said that they were required to wear uniforms, and these added more to the ‘list’. That is why with CAVA, she wanted to assist those like her to be able to start and achieve their dreams a lot easier. So expect reasonable terms, merfriends!

  1. Waze-able and Familiar Location

    IMG_20170407_103929-01

Having a background in real estate, I was trained that location is the first thing you look at in establishments. I was ecstatic to know that CAVA is very easy to find, and I can waze myself going towards it. Your UBER/GRAB ride can be as swift too!

Here are their addresses:

HG Studio – Torre Venezia Suites 170 Timog Avenue, corner Scout Santiago Street, Diliman, Quezon City, 1103 Metro Manila, Pilipinas

CAVA (Centre for Aesthetics and Visual Arts) – Unit 305 Victoria Tower Commercial, Panay Avenue Cor. Timog Avenue, Quezon City

  1. Gorgeous Interiors

    IMG_20170407_104652-01

I love how the upscale interiors are designed; they make me want to learn makeup professionally already. I am sure, one look at this, and CAVA’s email will be bombarded by makeup enthusiasts wanting to be enlisted in their makeup classes.

Via Galang CAVA 3Via Galang CAVA 6Via Galang CAVA 1

The interiors remind me of Moulin Rouge, where performers prepare before the show, only this looks more chic and modern.

  1. Quality Program and Services Trusted by Celebrities

    IMG_20170407_114350-01

Since there is only one brain mom who gave birth to HG Studio and CAVA, it’s no wonder that some of their clients attended and visited them during the launch.

Rachel Alejandro and Marco Alcaraz were there. And we had a quick sesh posting for photos.

IMG_20170407_121247

One of the makeup artists who did a demo, Ms Eva is also a student from CAVA and she now works for MAC. She’s a testimony that CAVA can help you achieve your beauty dreams and take you places!

  1. Amazing Mentors and Staff

IMG_20170407_105813-01Ms Hazel, together with Ms Maria and all the members of CAVA Team were all nice and accommodating. Their friendly smiles surely diminish the tension of awkward introductions, attendees’ reserved demeanor, and I bet, even the nervousness of their clients either an artist,  debutante or bride. Their warm personalities and professionalism make you want to book them for every event!IMG_20170407_110538-01IMG_20170407_110704-01

Ms Hazel also showed us how wearing a primer can drastically make colors pop more, compared to none. She also mentioned that primers cater to different types of skin, so we shouldn’t be mixing the primers meant for eyes lids, face, and lips.

I also learned that skin’s reaction to makeup regarding acidity is not seen days after. You can actually see it within minutes, 30 minutes at most.

How would you know if you’re acidic to a makeup brand? Apply some directly on the skin where you’re supposed to use it and then wait. If it turns darker, you’re acidic. 🙂 Such a huge takeaway! 🙂

  1. Ideal Venue for Beauty and Makeup Events

Now things start to become more and more interesting for CAVA. This isn’t just a makeup school; you can actually rent the place out for events, tutorials, makeup parties, meet-ups, talks, sponsorship affairs, etc. How fascinating is that? So if you’re a makeup artist wanting to host your first event, head on to CAVA and have this amazing place enjoyed by you and your attendees!

After the makeup sesh, JC Gellidon (Sony Ambassador) also taught us how we can maximize our camera phones to achieve good selfies and create beautiful photos with basic photography know-how.

IMG_20170407_131436

IMG_20170407_133955

IMG_20170407_144923-01

Mireh Manna also stuffed our tummies with good food, which is why learning makeup and basic photography became more fun! And The Sexy Chef was there too! I am sure you heard that they deliver healthy food to those wanting to achieve great summer bods!

I learned so many things that day, pretty new wonderful things actually! And since you’re reading this post today, I have some good news!

Hazel Gonzales Makeup Workshop

CAVA will be hosting their second Makeup Workshop tomorrow! April 29, 2017, in their studio! Each enrollee will also be given a certificate of participation upon finishing the course as well as a gift bag filled with goodies for makeup junkies. Slots are limited so enroll now!

How to Look Natural with Wigs

Disclosure: This is a sponsored post. All opinions are my prerogative.

If you follow me on social media, or if you’re my friend, you should know by now that I turned ginger, and it’s probably the loudest hair color I’ve ever had! I can tell that it really takes a lot of courage to wear your crowning glory differently, not to mention opting for unconventional colors and styles!

I remember wearing matchy-matchy wigs with my sister for our costume-themed Year Starter Party back in 2016. We were impersonating “Kimmy and Dora Godonghae”. They are the so unlikely twins from the hit Filipino movie “Kimmy-Dora”.

Via Galang Wigs 6Via Galang Wigs

Did we do a good job? Imagine how wigs can give you that total transformation!

Now, if you’re that kind of person who is yet to jump on this rather ‘life-changing’ only-for-a-few-months-kind-of hair, but would want to look a tad surprising every once in a while, I highly recommend you to wear wigs! Yeah! Most celebrities wear it every time, so why can’t you?

50-Colors-Brazilian-Curly-Clip-In-Hair-Extensions-Natural-Hairpiece-Aliexpress-UK-Curl-Wavy-Long-Synthetic

I discovered something so cool because I always wonder why their hair looks astonishingly real when I certainly know they’re not. Turns out these gorgeous women are wearing half wigs and not the full-on ones! Brilliant isn’t it?

Here is how you wear them!

Half Wig

You can actually add more volume to your hair by just wearing these complimentary hair accessories! I mean, I would certainly wear them! I just hope I can find some half wigs that would match my current hair color!

vivica-a-fox-synthetic-half-wig-fhw-winny-1bb

But look! This one totally opted to go extra creative by wearing an astounding different color! And they actually make her look more interesting!

If you’re looking for wigs or half wigs, I just found Black Hairspray online and they offer a wide array of wigs and hair care products! I know, I should start browsing for a ginger colored one ASAP!

What do you think of wigs, would you wear them? Let me know your thoughts! 🙂

3 Excuses You Can Tell Yourself to Visit Antara Wellness Spa

If I ask you to make a list of your once-you-try-it-you’re-never-gonna-stop things, what would they contain? Well, I started pondering on mine, and here is what I came up with:

  1. Getting a good massage
  2. Traveling
  3. Shoe Shopping

Were you surprised by my number 1? Well, I guess shoe shopping and traveling is pretty self-explanatory, and probably they’re also included in yours. And so I would like to write more about my first addiction, which is getting a good massage.

I have read in one article, that it’s good to get regular massages at least once a week. I even know someone who has it every day. Lucky guy! But for busy people, especially those who are always on the go, this luxury isn’t quite the same. Hello! Someone signed up for that roster, right here! And so I have always been in constant search for good places to get reflexology services.

IMG_20170408_191035

How fortunate it was when we found Antara Wellness Spa! “Antara” was taken from the concept of Indo-China which includes the countries of Myanmar, Vietnam, Cambodia and Thailand.

IMG_20170408_192855IMG_20170408_192840

The spa features eight well-appointed treatment rooms, a scrub room and a dedicated area for foot washing and leg massage. Each room is decorated in relaxing tones, ever so gently calmed by shaded natural light.

It is located in the heart of Manila and they offer amazing packages, same as with their individual rubbing magic!

I know, I know, you’re probably thinking about the rates right now. If it’s that good, that I had to use the word ‘magic’, the services must come in pricey. Plus, you’re so busy you don’t even have the time to visit, hence, even read this blog! So allow me to share you my list on why you should give yourself some slack, and head on to Antara to start your weekly massage routine.

  1. Experience divine flavored sea-salt body scrubs!

IMG_20170408_194916

The last time I had a body scrub was way waaaay too long that I can’t remember. Goodie I was able to experience it again and refresh me my memory. I availed Antara 3 that includes Antara Signature Massage and Body Scrub.

There were two flavors to choose from. Strawberry flavor was recommended to me since most girls really love it. The other flavor was Lavender, and men prefer it more. Although Dennis, the owner of Antara, mentioned that they’re going to be offering Vanilla and Chocolate flavors soon! Yummy!

I had my body scrub in their washroom, and it was such a delight! The bed was surprisingly comfy, and the water can be easily adjusted based on how you want it. According to my masseuse, Ms. Alma, their foreign clients who come from colder places like it really hot. Although, I just stuck to lukewarm.

The body scrub felt nice on the skin, and the smell of strawberries made me want to eat yogurt after. Actually, it was more like I felt how it was like to be a fruit with yogurt. I never felt more pampered!

It was as though my head was separated from my body, haha in a good way of course! I had my hair and face all dry, and my body the opposite. It was like feeling dry and wet at the same time, it was crazy!

  1. Be pampered with Antara’s (must-try) Indo-China fusion massage techniques!

I have never experienced a combined massage techniques from Myanmar, Vietnam, Cambodia and Thailand, that is why I was so excited to try this one, plus they’re going to use ice packs and bamboo mini sticks. I was psyched to know how it would feel.

It first started with normal kneading and rubbing, until the ice packs were placed on areas that needed some change of temperature. It was too cold for my lower back but felt normal and reassuring on my shoulder blades. My masseuse said that these areas are the most exhausted, that is why it can withstand the external stimulus. My muscles knew they needed that comfort.

I was in disbelief when the bamboo mini sticks felt comforting. They tapped on my skin gently, and just gave the right amount of impact to my weary muscles. All these different sensations were crucial to creating a whole new relaxing experience! Trust me, level up from Swedish, and try an Indo-Chinese massage!

  1. Avail a massage with your beau in a ‘Couple Room’ with no extra charge!

This was another shocker. I know most spa salons offer couple rooms for a minimum extra charge. But if you and your partner are practical, you’d probably just pick the usual cubicles and save a few extra bucks.

But I’ve always wanted to try these. It’s an awesome date idea! Plus you get to look at each other before you even doze off from the relaxing pressures and bodyworks!

I got there on their 17th day of operation, about two weeks ago, so keying Antara Wellness Spa in Uber/Grap or Waze may not appear just yet.

Celebrating Easter the Nailaholics Way

With all the busy schedules we’ve been tirelessly managing for the past months, it could be easy and convenient to forget to set some me-time! I should know, because I am one of those girls!

I only needed one event for me to realize how important this is. It was when I absent-mindedly wore peep-toe heels with my unpolished toenails.  I know, it’s no big deal! You just go there with your raw beautiful self! No problem about that!

But since I’ve been talking and blogging about maintaining a professional winning image, it’s a grave responsibility to yourself to always look presentable. It’s also proper grooming. Remember? You are your message. You are your brand.

Make Up Workshop: Look Sexy with Must Be Lexie

Since I was talking about Personality Development in my recent post, I thought I should key in more blog posts about this topic, especially when I have an upcoming entry about makeup!

Yes makeup! OMG!

I was never a good makeup artist. I just know I have to always look presentable, especially when facing clients, and whenever I have to train a class. With the limited talent I have with brushes and blushes, I have to do everything on my own! Imagine my mini heart attacks during events!

Anyway, I have also seen a video depicting the differences between Western and Korean’s style in putting makeup. And I wondered which one is more suitable to my face type.

According to that video, basically, Western Makeup Style looks mature, glamorous, glittery, edgy and often makes someone really look like a movie star.

While Korean Makeup Style appears youthful, glowy, sweet, innocent, and most of the time appears very delicate.

With today’s workshop though, I think I will do a Western look.

IMG_20170301_144341IMG_20170301_144436

That is why it was so timely when I had the chance to join Ms. Lexie Panaligan’s free makeup tutorial!

I was giddy I cannot wait to go!

It was held in Komunidad Filipino Cuisine Restaurant in Antipolo City, and in there Ms. Lexie taught us the basics of doing our own makeup. Here is the guide on which cosmetic/product we should put first before the other. Arranged ordinally are the following:

  1. Eye Cream
  2. Moisturizer
  3. Primer (at the T-zone)
  4. CC Cream
  5. Concealer (Under eyes)
  6. Foundation
  7. Translucent Powder
  8. Eye Shadow
  9. Eyeliner
  10. Eye Curler / Curlash
  11. Mascara (One dip should be enough for both lashes)
  12. Bronzer and Blush
  13. Eyebrow
  14. Concelear (Under the eyes. Again.)
  15. Lipbalm
  16. Lip Color (Lipliners and glosses are optional.)

But if you have braces like me, best way to toss glosses for the meantime. Metals and extra glitters will only create a greasy look, like it’s too busy and that there are so many things going on in one little bodypart!

We used Mary Kay products, and actually it’s my first time to use them. I particularly adore the foundation, because it felt so light in the face. Their matte lipstick was so rich in color as well!

The key takeaway for me was doing the eyebrows!

I am sooo envious on how others really master the craft of creating the perfect brows, that is why when I learned that all you essentially need, the first and foremost is a good makeup brush.

So here is my finished look!

IMG_20170301_175551

You can achieve that dark to light effect color from your brow bone towards the area where your 2 eyebrows meet, by swiftly gliding your brush from the middle towards the ‘meet-up place’. In that way you only spread lighter shades, not making them look like some stickers plastered above your eyes.

I also got to take home a Mary Kay Eye Brow Liner. Thanks so much! 🙂

Komunidad food was great as well; I didn’t know this junction offer such great meals!

IMG_20170301_170826IMG_20170301_170905

So thanks to this, no more brow-horrors for me! And I think that’s so sexy!

IMG_20170301_171933IMG_20170301_175724

By the way, you can find Ms. Lexie Panaligan in her page Must Be Lexie to know more about makeup tips and tutorial schedules!

Have you joined any make up workshops? What was your key takeaway? 🙂
